A fire broke out at the Wedgwood Sr. Apartments in the 6700 of Blanco Road Sunday morning around 6:30AM. More than 75 people were evacuated. Bailey McGowan, a reporter for KEN5 News reports that there are five confirmed fatalities, and three others in critical condition.
Wedgwood Apartments is a gated senior assisted living community. Ken5 News reports that Castle Hills, Balcones Heights, Bexar-Bulverde Volunteer, Leon Valley, Bulverdeand Acadia Private Ambulance all responded to the scene. A mass casualty response unit is also on scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
