University of Oregon Alerts Students After Woman Beaten, Sexually Assaulted

Eugene Police have shared information about a sexual assault that was reported on November 12 at the boat ramp in Alton Baker Park north of the main University of Oregon campus. Paths through that area of the park are heavily used by students and employees at the University.

Police are investigating report of a sexual assault involving a female victim in her 30s at the Alton Baker Park boat ramp around 10:50 a.m., November 12, 2017. Police did an extensive area search for the suspect, were unable to locate the suspect and are issuing a personal safety advisory.

The suspect is reported to have come up behind the woman, who was wearing earphones and was unable to hear his approach. She reports he punched her and then sexually assaulted her before leaving the scene.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 30s, 6’4″ tall or taller, medium build, with shaggy brown hair. He was last seen wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt and brown vest, similar to a fishing vest with a lot of pockets. The woman was taken to a local hospital where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
