TENNESSEE — A Memphis police officer was fatally shot as he sat in his patrol car on his way to work Sunday afternoon.
The shooting occurred around 1 PM. The officer was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but later died.
The deceased officer was identified as Terence Olridge. He was 32 years old.
“It is very, very sketchy, and there are more questions than answers at this time,” police Director Toney Armstrong said.
Olridge leaves behind a fiance who is four months pregnant, Armstrong said.
Per WREG: The victim’s uncle told WREG the officer was on his way to work in his uniform when he was shot in his car. He was able to crawl back to the house to get help, the uncle said.
A suspect is in custody.
