Victim Shoots At Robbers, Kills One

BROWARD COUNTY, Florida — Broward Sheriff’s Office homicide detectives are investigating a robbery that left one suspect dead after he was shot by the victim.

The armed robbery occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at 2400 W. Sunrise Blvd. in unincorporated Central Broward. Two suspects robbed the clerk at the Valero gas station. At least one of the men was armed with a gun and struck the clerk in the head with his weapon, while the other suspect removed cash from the register.

As the robbers made their getaway, the clerk followed and shot at the suspects. Investigators would later learn that one of the suspects was dropped off at a fire station at 3400 N. 56th Ave. in Hollywood suffering from a gunshot wound. That suspect was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The second suspect remains at large.

The gas station clerk is not facing any charges at this time. The investigation continues.
