ALABAMA — Tyler Kimbrell recorded video when he rescued his 11-month-old niece after a wreck in the Colbert Heights Area Aug. 4. Kimbrell was following his sister when the car they were in went off a 100 foot embankment.
Kimbrell was using the light from his phone to see inside the overturned vehicle to get the child out of her seat.
The car was destroyed, but Kimbrell said he was able to rescue his niece relatively unscathed. For him, that’s the biggest reward.
“The wonderful thing is Breleigh alive and happy and giggling, and just being her regular crazy self,” he said.
He credits God to helping him. He also credits his safety training through Faith Church in Florence with helping him rescue his niece.
Kimbrell said his sister was living out of the car and lost clothes, her cell phone and other personal items in the crash.
He has set up a GoFundMe page to help his sister with expenses.
