In Madrid, the police have apprehended an individual suspected of groping a Spanish journalist during her live television report. Isa Balado, a correspondent for the Spanish broadcaster Cuatro, was covering a live report on an armed robbery in Madrid on Tuesday when a man approached her from behind and seemingly made unwarranted physical contact.
Balado attempted to carry on with her live report, but the host of the news program, Nacho Abad, intervened, asking if Balado had been subjected to an assault by the individual.
Upon Balado’s confirmation of the incident, Abad requested that she feature the individual on camera, referring to him as an “idiot,” and the camera shifted to include the man within the frame.
The man was observed grinning before Balado directly addressed him, stating: “As much as you want to ask what channel we are from, do you really have to touch my bottom? I’m doing a live show and I’m working.”
The individual refuted any wrongdoing, and after a brief exchange, he walked away. Spain’s National Police force, via a Thursday tweet, announced that they had arrested a man on Tuesday for “sexually assaulting a reporter during a live television broadcast.” The accompanying post featured the man being led away in handcuffs.
