A crazed passenger was arrested in Honduras — but reportedly later released — after he stormed the cockpit of a Miami-bound American Airlines plane Tuesday.

NBC News reported: The alleged incident happened during boarding for Flight 488 from Ramon Villeda Morales International Airport in San Pedro Sula to Miami International Airport, the airline said in a statement.

The airline said the flight deck of the Boeing 737-800 was open when the unidentified person went in. The person was apprehended with the help of employees onboard and ultimately taken into custody by law enforcement.

According to the Associated Press, the man was later released by police.

“He was freed because the airline did not press charges,” Security Secretary spokesman Edgardo Barahona told the AP. “The aggression toward the pilot and the crew of the airline was not serious.” … “He was taken to an assistance center because according to other passengers he was acting strangely as if under the effects of some type of hallucinogen.”

“We applaud our outstanding crew members for their professionalism in handling a difficult situation,” American Airlines said.
