CALIFORNIA – A social media trend, known as the “stranger bucket challenge,” took a disastrous turn after a group of young men targeted a woman in Tustin.
Lana Clay-Monaghan, a new mother, was shopping in the baby aisle at a Target store when four teenagers unexpectedly threw a bucket over her head and recorded her reaction.
The incident left Clay-Monaghan, who is a 30-year cancer survivor and developed epilepsy later in life, struggling to breathe and eventually fainting.
She was taken to the UC Irvine Medical Center and says she is still dealing with both physical and psychological impacts from the ordeal.
Tustin Police are currently reviewing surveillance footage in hopes of identifying the perpetrators.
