William Shatner – Captain James Kirk of ‘Star Trek’ fame – became at age 90 the oldest person in space aboard a rocketship flown by billionaire Jeff Bezos’s company Blue Origin, an experience the actor called profound.

“What you have given me is the most profound experience,” Shatner told Jeff Bezo. “I hope I never recover from this. I hope that I can maintain what I feel now. I don’t want to lose it.”

Shatner described going from a bright blue sky to blackness of space: “Is that death? Is that the way death is? — In an instant you go, `Whoa, that’s death.′ That’s what I saw.”
