Witness: Man harassing, beating up strangers is shot dead by armed citizen in Washington state

EVERETT, WA – Detectives are investigating a shooting incident  in Everett.

At about 3:30 p.m. last Tuesday, officers responded to the 11300 block of 19th Ave SE on the report of an assault with a weapon.

Arriving officers discovered an adult male had been shot. The unidentified man, in his early 30’s, was taken to a local hospital where he later died from the injuries.

Witnesses say the suspect was walking his dog when he started yelling and became aggressive towards people walking on the sidewalk around Silver Lake. One individual was a grandmother and her young granddaughter.

Several men were nearby and attempted to intervene but were pepper sprayed and struck with a metal baton by the man.

One of the interveners was armed with a pistol and shot the man twice.

Officers detained the shooter and he willingly interviewed with detectives. Numerous people witnessed the incident and detectives have not filed any charges.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office will confirm the identity of the deceased as well as cause and manner of his death.

Everett Animal Control responded to the scene and took the dog for safekeeping
