LOS ANGELES — A man was charged today for beating a 63-year-old woman with a glass bottle in a Burbank alley.

Hector Manuel Ulloa, 51, of San Bernardino faces one count of attempted murder and using a glass bottle as a deadly and dangerous weapon.

Ulloa is alleged to have randomly attacked the woman as she walked near the 1400 block of North San Fernando Boulevard on July 1, prosecutors said. He allegedly stuck her with a bottle and punched and kicked her repeatedly.

If convicted as charged, Ulloa faces a possible maximum sentence of 43 years to life in state prison. Bail is set at $1.165 million dollars.

The woman remains in critical condition. Ulloa was on probation at the time of the attack and is being held without bail.

The case remains under investigation by the Burbank Police Department.
