Milwaukee — Monday night, at about 8:30 pm, a supervisor from the Milwaukee Police Department observed a vehicle that was wanted in connection to several armed robberies at the location of W. Arrow Street and S. Compstock Ave.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the subject refused to stop and led officers on a vehicular pursuit. The suspect fled for a short time and eventually began to travel East on Greenfield from S. 1st Street.

Surveillance video shows that the fleeing vehicle continued East on Greenfield at a high rate of speed. The suspect lost control of the vehicle and careened directly into the Kinnickinnic River.

Rescue Divers from the Milwaukee Fire Department quickly responded and within minutes had a diver in the River. An adult female was recovered from the river.

Despite lifesaving efforts she died on the scene. Rescue divers continued to search the immediate area of the river, but were unable to locate any other occupants of the vehicle. Due to eroding conditions, the search was discontinued after a significant amount of time.

On Tuesday morning, the vehicle was recovered and 2 additional bodies were discovered, including a child. The identities of the victims were not known.
