Woman Stabbed To Death While Jogging In Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON — Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred on Tuesday in the 1400 block of 11th Street, Northwest.

At 7:56 pm, members of the Third District responded to the listed location for the report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located a female jogger suffering from multiple stab wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.

The victim has been identified as 35 year-old Wendy Karina Martinez, of Northwest, DC.

“It’s very scary. We haven’t gotten to the bottom to see if this is someone that she knew or exactly what the motive is,” the police chief said

The suspect was captured by a nearby surveillance camera.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
