Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez released the following information:

The adult female who died on Saturday, January 25, 2020, in the incident at 33 Suburbia Court in Jersey City in which an infant female also died, has been identified as Sandra Provost, age 41, of Jersey City.

On Saturday, January 25, 2020, shortly before 6 a.m., the Jersey City Police Department and Emergency Medical Services responded to 33 Suburbia Court in Jersey City on a report of a woman in need of medical attention. Upon arrival, Jersey City Police Officers found a female needing medical assistance as well as an unresponsive female infant. The infant was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 6:05 a.m. The age of the deceased infant is unknown at this time, however, the preliminary investigation indicates that Provost gave birth to the deceased female infant found in the home.

Provost was transported by EMS to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment. She was pronounced dead at approximately 4:50 p.m. The cause and manner of death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

According to her Facebook page, she worked at a diner.

NJ.com reported: There have been at least three fatalities connected to the house in the last seven months. Michelle Macaluso, a Bayonne woman, died of drug-related causes at the home in July. The house was cited in June for a number of code violations, and Jersey City inspectors appear to have visited the home multiple times over the past few months, including as recently as two weeks ago.

According to police radio transmissions from Saturday, officers described the house as filthy, strewn with needles and feces.
