Fishkill, New York – On Saturday, at 2:38 p.m., Dutchess County 911 assigned the Village of Fishkill Fire Department and Police Department to a construction accident at the Gap Warehouse on Merritt Boulevard.
Members of the fire department, police department, and state police responded to the scene, which was the demolition site of a past structure fire.
Upon first responders arrival to the scene, a Komatsu excavator was observed with a piece of steel beam and tin that had entered the cab. The operator of the excavator was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The machine operator’s name was not released.
