{"id":100794,"date":"2017-03-01T11:03:37","date_gmt":"2017-03-01T16:03:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/breaking911.com\/?p=100794"},"modified":"2017-03-01T11:03:37","modified_gmt":"2017-03-01T16:03:37","slug":"twitter-will-now-let-block-everyone-egg-avatar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/breaking911.com\/twitter-will-now-let-block-everyone-egg-avatar\/","title":{"rendered":"Twitter Will Now Let You Block Everyone With An &#8216;Egg&#8217; Avatar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Twitter has started to roll out several new features this week aimed at reducing &#8216;abuse and harassment&#8217;, following up on changes that were introduced a few weeks ago.<\/p>\n<p>Twitter announced today that they will introduce optional filters that will prevent you from being notified when certain accounts tweet you.<\/p>\n<p>This now includes accounts without a profile picture, named &#8216;eggs&#8217;, as well as accounts without verified phone numbers.<\/p>\n<p>Twitter released the following statement on the upcoming changes:<\/p>\n<p><em>We\u2019re working to identify accounts as they\u2019re engaging in abusive behavior, even if this behavior hasn\u2019t been reported to us. Then, we\u2019re taking action by limiting certain account functionality for a set amount of time, such as allowing only their followers to see their Tweets. For example, this change could come into effect if an account is repeatedly Tweeting without solicitation at non-followers or engaging in patterns of abusive behavior that is in violation of the Twitter Rules. Our platform supports the freedom to share any viewpoint, but if an account continues to repeatedly violate the Twitter Rules, we will consider taking further action.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>We\u2019re continuing our work to make Twitter safer, moving faster than ever to do so. During the past few weeks alone, we\u2019ve made a number of changes on this front including <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.twitter.com\/2017\/an-update-on-safety\">updating how you can report abusive Tweets, stopping the creation of new abusive accounts, implementing safer search results, collapsing abusive or low-quality Tweets<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TwitterSafety\/status\/832340035340939265\">reducing notifications<\/a> from conversations started by people you\u2019ve blocked or muted.
