Pyongyang — At least\u00a0200 foreign journalists who are in North Korea for its ‘national day’ on Thursday were told to prepare for a “big and important event.”<\/p>\n

The ‘Day of the Sun’ would have been the 105th birthday of North Korean founding president Kim Il Sung.<\/p>\n

Tensions among the United States and DPRK have escalated due to Kim Jong Un’s Nuclear program exercises.<\/a><\/p>\n

North Korea has vowed to retaliate with a “powerful force of arms” in response to the US deployment of a Navy strike group to the Korean peninsula.<\/p>\n

Reuters reported<\/a>: Officials gave no details as to the nature of the event or where it would take place, and similar announcements in the past have been linked to relatively low-key set pieces.<\/em><\/p>\n
