The United States has dropped the largest non-nuclear bomb in Afghanistan–just days after a Green Beret was killed there fighting the Islamic State.<\/p>\n

The GBU-43B – MAOB (Massive Ordinance Air Blast), better known as the ‘mother of all bombs,’ is a 21,000 pound device. It targeted ISIS tunnels and fighters, military officials said.<\/p>\n

CNN reported<\/a>: The military is currently assessing the damage. Gen. John Nicholson, commander of US forces in Afghanistan, signed off on the use of the bomb, according to the sources.<\/em><\/p>\n

This is the first time a MOAB has been used in the battlefield, according to the US officials. This munition was developed during the Iraq War.<\/em><\/p>\n
