{"id":105198,"date":"2017-04-13T15:41:31","date_gmt":"2017-04-13T19:41:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/breaking911.com\/?p=105198"},"modified":"2017-04-13T15:42:26","modified_gmt":"2017-04-13T19:42:26","slug":"breaking-u-s-air-force-issues-statement-mother-bombs-dropped-afghanistan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/breaking911.com\/breaking-u-s-air-force-issues-statement-mother-bombs-dropped-afghanistan\/","title":{"rendered":"U.S. Air Force Issues Statement After &#8216;Mother of All Bombs&#8217; Dropped In Afghanistan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KABUL, Afghanistan (AFNS) &#8212; At 7:32 p.m. local time April 13, 2017, U.S. Forces Afghanistan conducted <a href=\"https:\/\/breaking911.com\/mother-bombs-us-drops-largest-non-nuclear-bomb-targeting-isis-afghanistan\/\">a strike on an Islamic State of Iraq and Syria-Khorasan tunnel complex in Achin district, Nangarhar province, Afghanistan<\/a>, as part of ongoing efforts to defeat ISIS-K in Afghanistan, according to a U.S. Forces Afghanistan news release<\/p>\n<p>ISIS-K, also known as the Korasan group, is based in the Afghanistan-Pakistan region and is composed primarily of former members of Tehrik-e Taliban Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban.<\/p>\n<p>The strike used a GBU-43\/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast bomb dropped from a U.S. aircraft. The strike was designed to minimize the risk to Afghan and U.S. forces conducting clearing operations in the area while maximizing the destruction of ISIS-K fighters and facilities.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-video\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"in\">U.S. Bombs, Destroys Khorasan Group Stronghold in Afghanistan <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/oDhjzaLuUw\">https:\/\/t.co\/oDhjzaLuUw<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/xOMsYD5grt\">pic.twitter.com\/xOMsYD5grt<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 U.S. Air Force (@usairforce) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/usairforce\/status\/852604204644524033\">April 13, 2017<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs ISIS-K\u2019s losses have mounted, they are using [improvised bombs], bunkers and tunnels to thicken their defense,\u201d said Army Gen. John W.
