{"id":115705,"date":"2018-01-11T19:55:50","date_gmt":"2018-01-12T00:55:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/breaking911.com\/?p=115705"},"modified":"2018-01-11T20:22:06","modified_gmt":"2018-01-12T01:22:06","slug":"fiat-chrysler-will-invest-1b-michigan-truck-plant-bring-ram-work-back-mexico","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/breaking911.com\/fiat-chrysler-will-invest-1b-michigan-truck-plant-bring-ram-work-back-mexico\/","title":{"rendered":"Fiat Chrysler will invest $1B in Michigan Truck plant; bring Ram work back from Mexico due to tax reform"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Investment will modernize Warren Truck Assembly to produce Ram Heavy Duty<\/li>\n<li>Ram Heavy Duty truck production will relocate from\u00a0<span class=\"xn-location\">Mexico<\/span>\u00a0to\u00a0<span class=\"xn-location\">Michigan<\/span>\u00a0in 2020<\/li>\n<li>Plant will add 2,500 new U.S. jobs to support production of heavy duty truck<\/li>\n<li>Approximately 60,000 FCA employees in the U.S. will receive special bonus payment<\/li>\n<li>Total U.S.\u00a0investment grows to more than\u00a0<span class=\"xn-money\">$10 billion<\/span>\u00a0since 2009, with over 25,000 jobs created to date<\/li>\n<li>Production move solidifies U.S. as the global manufacturing hub for Ram products<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>FCA announced today two actions made possible in part by the passage of\u00a0U.S. tax reform legislation late last year &#8211; an additional investment in its U.S. manufacturing operations and a special payment to recognize employees for their continued efforts towards the success of the Company.<\/p>\n<p>First, the Company confirmed that it will invest more than\u00a0<span class=\"xn-money\">$1 billion<\/span>\u00a0to modernize the\u00a0<a class=\"linkOnClick\" href=\"http:\/\/media.fcanorthamerica.com\/newsrelease.do?id=343&amp;mid=105\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-include=\"300581764\">Warren Truck Assembly Plant<\/a>(<span class=\"xn-location\">Michigan<\/span>) to produce the next generation Ram Heavy Duty truck, which will relocate from its current production location in\u00a0<span class=\"xn-location\">Saltillo, Mexico<\/span>, in 2020. This investment is in addition to the announcement made in\u00a0<span class=\"xn-chron\">January 2017<\/span>\u00a0which committed to spending a portion of\u00a0<span class=\"xn-money\">$1 billion<\/span>\u00a0in Warren Truck Assembly to expand the Jeep<sub>\u00ae<\/sub>\u00a0product line with the addition of the all-new Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer. The\u00a0<a class=\"linkOnClick\" href=\"http:\/\/media.fcanorthamerica.com\/newsrelease.do?id=319&amp;mid=105\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-include=\"300581764\">Saltillo\u00a0Truck Assembly Plant<\/a>\u00a0will be repurposed to produce\u00a0future\u00a0commercial vehicles for global distribution.<\/p>\n<p>To support the increased volume at the Warren facility, 2,500 new jobs will be created, above and beyond the jobs announced as part of the\u00a0<span class=\"xn-chron\">January 2017<\/span>\u00a0announcement.<\/p>\n<p>Second, the Company confirmed that it will make a special bonus payment of\u00a0<span class=\"xn-money\">$2,000<\/span>\u00a0to approximately 60,000 FCA hourly and salaried employees in the U.S., excluding senior leadership. The payment, which recognizes employees for their continued commitment to the Company&#8217;s success, will be made in the\u00a0second quarter of this year, and will be in addition to any profit sharing and salaried performance bonuses that employees would otherwise be eligible to receive in 2018. The special bonus will be paid to all eligible employees of the FCA automotive and components operations in the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;These announcements reflect our ongoing commitment to our U.S. manufacturing footprint and the dedicated employees who have contributed to FCA&#8217;s success,&#8221; said\u00a0<span class=\"xn-person\">Sergio Marchionne<\/span>, Chief Executive Officer, FCA. &#8220;It is only proper that our employees share in the savings generated by tax reform and\u00a0that we openly acknowledge the resulting improvement in the\u00a0U.S. business environment by investing in our industrial footprint accordingly.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><b>Investment in U.S. Manufacturing Grows<br \/>\n<\/b>FCA has invested\u00a0<span class=\"xn-money\">$10 billion<\/span>\u00a0in its U.S. manufacturing operations since\u00a0<span class=\"xn-chron\">June 2009<\/span>. Most recently, the Company announced investments totaling\u00a0<span class=\"xn-money\">$3.5 billion<\/span>, with the addition of 3,700 new jobs, to strengthen its U.S. manufacturing base, and align U.S. capacity to extend the Jeep and Ram product lines.<\/p>\n<p>Those investments and related actions involved\u00a0production shifts at three plants\u00a0in\u00a0<span class=\"xn-location\">Illinois<\/span>,\u00a0<span class=\"xn-location\">Ohio<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0<span class=\"xn-location\">Michigan<\/span>\u00a0to gain capacity for the Jeep Cherokee, Jeep Wrangler and Ram Light Duty truck, and the introduction of three new Jeep models at plants in\u00a0<span class=\"xn-location\">Ohio<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0<span class=\"xn-location\">Michigan<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>The investments include:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li><span class=\"xn-money\">$350 million<\/span>\u00a0in the\u00a0<a class=\"linkOnClick\" href=\"http:\/\/media.fcanorthamerica.com\/newsrelease.do?id=323&amp;mid=105\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-include=\"300581764\">Belvidere Assembly Plant<\/a>\u00a0(<span class=\"xn-location\">Illinois<\/span>) to produce the Jeep Cherokee, which moved from\u00a0<span class=\"xn-location\">Toledo, Ohio<\/span>\u00a0in 2017. More than 300 new jobs were added to support production.<\/li>\n<li><span class=\"xn-money\">$700 million<\/span>\u00a0in the\u00a0<a class=\"linkOnClick\" href=\"http:\/\/media.fcanorthamerica.com\/newsrelease.do?id=339&amp;mid=105\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-include=\"300581764\">Toledo Assembly Complex<\/a>\u00a0(<span class=\"xn-location\">Ohio<\/span>) to retool the North plant to produce the next generation Jeep Wrangler. Approximately 700 new jobs will be added to support production.<\/li>\n<li><span class=\"xn-money\">$1.5 billion<\/span>\u00a0in the\u00a0<a class=\"linkOnClick\" href=\"http:\/\/media.fcanorthamerica.com\/newsrelease.do?id=335&amp;mid=105\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-include=\"300581764\">Sterling Heights Assembly Plant<\/a>\u00a0(<span class=\"xn-location\">Michigan<\/span>) to build the next generation Ram 1500 truck. More than 700 new jobs will be added to support production.<\/li>\n<li><span class=\"xn-money\">$1 billion<\/span>\u00a0in the south plant of the Toledo Assembly Complex to prepare the facility to produce an all-new Jeep truck, and in the Warren Truck Assembly Plant\u00a0to modernize the plant to build the all-new Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer.
