Deputy District Attorney Mariela Torres of the Victim Impact Program, who prosecuted the case, said at the time of the crime, Holmes was a football player at Cerritos College in Norwalk.<\/p>\n
On Sept. 8, 2016, Holmes invited a fellow college student, a 19-year-old woman, to his Norwalk apartment, the prosecutor said.<\/p>\n
While in his room, the defendant sexually assaulted the woman, according to the prosecutor. The alleged crime occurred during a physical therapy “session.”<\/p>\n
The victim told several people about the attack, but waited to alert law enforcement until January 2017, according to trial testimony.<\/p>\n
