Man Sentenced For Killing Wife In Front of Family on Christmas Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LOS ANGELES &#8212; A Bellflower man was sentenced today for fatally shooting his wife in front of their family on Christmas Day two years ago.<\/p>\n<p>Santiago Palacios Salgado, 58, was sentenced by Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Michael Cowell to 40 years to life in prison.<\/p>\n<p>On Dec. 25, 2017, Salgado went to a home in the 9100 block of Rosecrans Avenue in Bellflower, displayed a handgun and fatally shot his estranged wife, Gabriela Romero-Garcia, 41. Children were present during the murder.<\/p>\n<p>Salgado then shot himself in the abdomen in an apparent suicide attempt&#8211;he survived.<\/p>\n<p>In August, Salgado pleaded no contest to one felony count of second-degree murder.<\/p>\n<p>The case was investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff\u2019s Department.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LOS ANGELES &#8212; A Bellflower man was sentenced today for fatally shooting his wife in front of their family on Christmas Day two years ago.
