Over 354,000 people around the world have been diagnosed &amp; health officials say the worst is yet to come.<\/p>\n<p>The respiratory disease has been named \u201ccoronavirus disease 2019\u201d (abbreviated \u201cCOVID-19\u201d).<\/p>\n<p>Different parts of the country are seeing different levels of COVID-19 activity. The United States nationally is in the initiation phase of the pandemic. States in which community spread is occurring are in the acceleration phase. The duration and severity of each pandemic phase can vary depending on the characteristics of the virus and the public health response.<\/p>\n<p>CDC and state and local public health laboratories are testing for the virus that causes COVID-19.
