{"id":142060,"date":"2020-06-25T14:55:11","date_gmt":"2020-06-25T18:55:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/breaking911.com\/?p=142060"},"modified":"2020-06-25T14:55:12","modified_gmt":"2020-06-25T18:55:12","slug":"mayor-of-california-city-and-consultant-charged-in-scheme-to-launder-campaign-contributions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/breaking911.com\/mayor-of-california-city-and-consultant-charged-in-scheme-to-launder-campaign-contributions\/","title":{"rendered":"Mayor of California City And Consultant Charged In Scheme To Launder Campaign Contributions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The owner of an education consulting firm and the mayor of Pico Rivera have been charged with improperly reimbursing family and friends for donating money to a candidate running for a seat on the Montebello school board.<\/p>\n<p>Luis Diaz Rojas and Gustavo Vidal Camacho were each charged with one felony count of conspiracy to commit improper identification of a campaign contributor and one misdemeanor count of making a campaign contribution under a false name or improper identification of a campaign contributor.<\/p>\n<p>The case was filed for warrant on April 21.<\/p>\n<p>Rojas, owner of the DelTerra Group, and Camacho are accused of engaging in a scheme to launder contributions to Joanna Flores, a board member of the Montebello Unified School District.<\/p>\n<p>Between December 2015 and April 2016, donors allegedly enlisted by the two defendants signed checks to the Flores campaign and received reimbursements for their contributions.<\/p>\n<p>If convicted as charged, both defendants face up to three years in county jail.<\/p>\n<p>The Public Integrity Division is prosecuting the case.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The owner of an education consulting firm and the mayor of Pico Rivera have been charged with improperly reimbursing family and friends for donating money to a candidate running for a seat on the Montebello school board.
