U.S. Capitol<\/a> on Friday.<\/p>\nPolice say the suspect, 25-year-old Noah Green, of Indiana, then exited his vehicle with a knife and lunged at officers when he was shot dead.<\/p>\n
One of the injured police officers also died from his injuries. He was identified as Officer William ‘Billy’ Evans.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is with profound sadness that I share the news of the passing of Officer William ‘Billy’ Evans this afternoon from injuries he sustained following an attack at the North Barricade by a lone assailant,” said Acting U.S. Capitol Police Chief Yogananda Pittman. “Officer Evans had been a member of the United States Capitol Police for 18 years.\u00a0 He began his USCP service on March 7, 2003, and was a member of the Capitol Division\u2019s First Responder\u2019s Unit. Please keep Officer Evans and his family in your thoughts and prayers.\u201d<\/p>\n
Live video aired on ‘Fox News Now’ showed a lifeless man being taken to an ambulance on a stretcher. It was not confirmed if this person was the attacker.<\/p>\n
According to Green’s Facebook page, he was a follower of the radical group the Nation of Islam.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeace, friends, family, enemies, and the like,\u201d Green wrote on Facebook in March. \u201cTo be honest these past few years have been tough, and these past few months have been tougher. I have been tried with some of the biggest, unimaginable tests in my life. I am currently now unemployed after I left my job partly due to afflictions, but ultimately, in search of a spiritual journey.\u201d<\/p>\n

At a press conference, police said the incident does “not appear to be terror related.”<\/p>\n
