A federal court in the District of Columbia unsealed an indictment earlier this year against Juan Carlos Valencia Gonzalez, aka Pelon, Tricky Tres, O3, El 3, JP, and Pelacas. Yesterday, the U.S. Department of State announced a reward of up to $5 million for information leading to his arrest and conviction.<\/p>\n

Juan Carlos Valencia\u00a0Gonzalez\u00a0is one of the alleged leaders of the Cartel de Jalisco Nueva\u00a0Generacion\u00a0(CJNG), assessed to be the most violent drug trafficking organization (DTO) currently operating in Mexico, with\u00a0the highest cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine trafficking capacity.\u00a0\u00a0Valencia\u00a0Gonzalez\u2019s mother, Rosalinda\u00a0Gonzalez\u00a0Valencia, is married to CJNG leader\u00a0Nemesio\u00a0Ruben\u00a0Oseguera-Cervantes, a\/k\/a \u201cEl\u00a0Mencho,\u201d- making\u00a0him\u00a0Valencia\u00a0Gonzalez\u2019s\u00a0his stepfather.\u00a0\u00a0El\u00a0<\/span>Mencho\u00a0is also<\/span>\u00a0a designated target of the State Department Narcotics Rewards Program (NRP) with a reward offer of up to $10 million.<\/span><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A DEA\u00a0investigation of Valencia Gonzalez reveled he was responsible for the manufacturing, transportation, and distribution of tons of\u00a0quantities of narcotics, as well as for organizing numerous crimes of violence.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On July 20, 2020, during a press conference hosted by Mexican President Lopez-Obrador, Secretary of Defense Luis\u00a0Cresencio\u00a0Sandoval\u00a0Gonzalez\u00a0provided an analysis of social media videos depicting the armed wing of the JCJNG, Grupo Elite.\u00a0 Sandoval described\u00a0one of the leaders of Grupo Elite as Juan Carlos\u00a0Gonzalez, alias \u201cEl R-3.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Valencia Gonzalez was charged in a federal indictment returned on October 8, 2020 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.\u00a0 The indictment charges Valencia Gonzalez with conspiracy and distribution of a controlled substance for purpose of unlawful importation into the United States, in violation of Title 21, U.S.C, \u00a7 959(a), 960, and 963 and use of a firearm during a narcotics transaction, in violation of Title 18, U.S.C. \u00a7924.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
