Clem (@USBPChiefYUM) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/USBPChiefYUM\/status\/1472943237027356673?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 20, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Great work by Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents, who apprehended and identified a potential terrorist after he illegally entered the United States in Yuma\u2019s area of operations Thursday night,&#8221; Clem said on Facebook. &#8220;Agents encountered a 21-year-old migrant from Saudi Arabia near County 8 \u00bd and the Levee Road and determined he was a positive match linked to several Yemeni subjects of interest. The migrant will be processed for an expedited removal from the U.S.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div class=\"fb-post\" data-href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/USBPYumaSector\/posts\/221371426847138\" data-width=\"552\"><\/div>\n<p>Rep. John Katko (R-NY), Ranking Member of the House Committee on Homeland Security, released the following statement on the apprehension:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am deeply troubled by reports of a Saudi national apprehended at the southwest border with potential ties to terrorism and found wearing a jacket emblazoned with a Central Oneida County Volunteer Ambulance Corps emblem. As I and many of my colleagues have been saying for months, the impact and relevancy of the Biden Border Crisis are not limited to communities along the southwest border. Migrants are entering the United States illegally in record numbers from a litany of countries. We are undoubtedly experiencing a nationwide crisis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHaving recently returned from a trip to the southwest border, I can say with certainty the Biden Administration\u2019s disastrous border policies are leaving our communities vulnerable to drugs, violence, COVID-19, and terrorism. While I continue to seek additional details from the Department of Homeland Security about this specific instance, the reality is our nation faces a serious crisis at the southwest border and this Administration still refuses to address it. With this report, as well as documented increases in fentanyl and other drugs crossing the border, it\u2019s clear the security failures on the border are having an adverse impact on Central New York and communities across the United States.
