Officer Curry returned gunfire and the suspect fled the scene.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 696px;\" class=\"wp-video\"><!--[if lt IE 9]><script>document.createElement('video');<\/script><![endif]-->\n<video class=\"wp-video-shortcode\" id=\"video-179305-1\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" preload=\"metadata\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"video\/mp4\" src=\"https:\/\/breaking911.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/zgj8NTsD1_rimsE_.mp4?_=1\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/breaking911.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/zgj8NTsD1_rimsE_.mp4\">https:\/\/breaking911.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/zgj8NTsD1_rimsE_.mp4<\/a><\/video><\/div>\n<p>The suspect, was later identified as 36-year-old Jose Claudio. Authorities arrested Claudio, of New Haven, after determining he was inside a home on Putnam Street in Hartford. He was taken into custody without further incident.<\/p>\n<p>Officer Curry was transported by fellow officers to Yale New Haven Hospital, located at 20 York Street, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released later in the morning. Claudio was charged with first-degree assault of a public safety officer, criminal possession of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, unlawful discharge of a firearm and first-degree reckless endangerment.<\/p>\n<p>Claudio is being held on $1 million bond and is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday, Oct. 11.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New Haven, Connecticut \u2014 On October 7, 2022, at about 1:29 AM, New Haven Police responded to reports of a car accident near the intersection of Chapel Street and Blatchley Avenue in the Fair Haven neighborhood.
