The Pinellas County Sheriff\u2019s Office and Tarpon Springs Police Department are investigating a shooting early SUnday morning that claimed the life of an officer<\/p>\n

The sheriff\u2019s office confirmed an officer has been killed. The incident took place around 3 a.m. Sunday at Glen’s Eureka Apartments on Grand Boulevard in Tarpon Springs. <\/p>\n

According to 10News<\/a>, police were called to reports of a person banging on residential doors. When police arrived the suspect shot one of the officers and then attempted to flee in a vehicle.<\/p>\n

After a brief pursuit and vehicle crash, the suspect was taken into custody.<\/p>\n

The officer whose identity has not yet been released worked for the Tarpon Springs Police Department.<\/p>\n

This happened around 12 hours after two NYPD officers were shot execution style, while sitting in a patrol car in Brooklyn.<\/p>\n
