Wichita Falls, TX —\u00a0Two people were trampled to death by the animal at a camel farm Saturday.<\/p>\n
Their bodies were found just after 2:30 p.m<\/p>\n
The victims: 72 year-old Peggye McNair and 53 year-old Mark Mere.<\/p>\n
Mere got into a pen with 3 camels, one male and two females.\u00a0 He says he got into the pen because the water trough had frozen over.<\/p>\n
According to Duke, the male camel was in rut and was very agressive.\u00a0 The camel then charged Mere.\u00a0 As Mere tried to get out of the pen, Duke says McNair tried to close the gate but the camel then came after both of them and trampled them to death.<\/p>\n
Deputies arrived on scene and say all three camels were acting very aggressive toward them.<\/p>\n
He says the family of the camel farm owner gave permission for game wardens to put down the male\u00a0camel.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
