At about 6:40 PM on Friday, March 27, 2015, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of Humboldt Avenue and Ruthven Street in District B-2 (Roxbury).<\/p>\n
As officers approached the vehicle, an individual exited the car and opened fire on the officers.<\/a> In attempts to stop the threat, officers returned fire at the suspect. One officer, identified as 34-year-old Officer John T. Moynihan,\u00a0suffered a gunshot wound and was transported to Boston Medical Center in critical condition.<\/p>\n Officer Moynihan is a six year veteran of the Boston Police Department.<\/p>\n The suspect also suffered gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased at the scene. A third female victim suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was transported to Boston Medical Center. Two additional suspects are in custody on unrelated matters.<\/p>\n
