{"id":32947,"date":"2015-03-27T23:38:46","date_gmt":"2015-03-28T03:38:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/breaking911.com\/?p=32947"},"modified":"2015-08-10T04:07:00","modified_gmt":"2015-08-10T08:07:00","slug":"boston-police-officer-shot-tonight-saved-life-of-tsarnaev-brothers-victim","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/breaking911.com\/boston-police-officer-shot-tonight-saved-life-of-tsarnaev-brothers-victim\/","title":{"rendered":"Boston Police Officer Shot Tonight Saved Life Of Tsarnaev Brothers Victim"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At about 6:40 PM on Friday, March 27, 2015, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of Humboldt Avenue and Ruthven Street in District B-2 (Roxbury).<\/p>\n<p>As officers approached the vehicle, an individual exited the car and <a title=\"UPDATE: Boston Police Officer Critical, In Coma After Being Shot In The Face\" href=\"https:\/\/breaking911.com\/breaking-boston-police-officer-shot\/\">opened fire on the officers.<\/a> In attempts to stop the threat, officers returned fire at the suspect. One officer, identified as 34-year-old Officer John T. Moynihan,\u00a0suffered a gunshot wound and was transported to Boston Medical Center in critical condition.<\/p>\n<p>Officer Moynihan is a six year veteran of the Boston Police Department.<\/p>\n<p>The suspect also suffered gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased at the scene. A third female victim suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was transported to Boston Medical Center. Two additional suspects are in custody on unrelated matters.<\/p>\n<p>The Boston Globe <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bostonglobe.com\/metro\/2015\/03\/27\/police-officer-shot-roxbury\/yVrrI7dn3BeT8iWX9wKL3M\/story.html?hootPostID=c0ab665aa64b929609be28ef38d9cf23\">reported<\/a>, citing\u00a0 Lieutenant Michael P. McCarthy of Boston police:<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Moynihan had assisted Transit police officer Richard H. Donohue Jr, who was shot and bleeding to death when police tried to apprehend Boston Marathon bombers Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev in April of 2013.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Boston Police Department is actively investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding this incident.
