27-year-old Ricky Shawatza Hall was shot and killed by a guard Monday. Hall\u00a0was a transgender sex worker in Baltimore. According to reports by the Associated Press, friends called her a friendly but troubled loner.<\/p>\n
The stolen car the two suspects were in belonged to a Baltimore man, 60, who says he picked up the two and brought them to a hotel. He says they checked into a room and an hour later, they stole his car while he was using the restroom.<\/p>\n
Police would not say whether drugs, alcohol, or sex were part of the hour-long hotel stay.<\/p>\n
The suspects drove straight toward the restricted area of Fort Meade where the deadly incident occurred. Police say the aren’t sure what made the suspect ram the gate.<\/p>\n
From AP: “Hall had a history of theft and assault. In 2013, she was charged with assaulting a woman and stealing a bottle of methadone from her pocket. Hall wore a yellow dress at the time of the assault, the documents show. In 2014, Hall was charged with robbery after stealing a vest and skirt from a Baltimore clothing store.”<\/em><\/p>\n EARLIER REPORT BELOW: This story is developing.<\/p>\n The NSA issued the following statement:<\/p>\n Shortly before 9:00 AM today, a vehicle containing two individuals attempted an unauthorized entry at a National Security Agency gate. \u00a0The driver failed to obey an NSA Police officer’s routine instructions for safely exiting the secure campus. \u00a0The vehicle failed to stop and barriers were deployed.<\/i><\/p>\n The vehicle accelerated toward an NSA Police vehicle blocking the road. \u00a0NSA Police fired at the vehicle when it refused to stop. \u00a0The unauthorized vehicle crashed into the NSA Police vehicle.\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n One of the unauthorized vehicle’s occupants died on the scene. \u00a0The cause of death has not been determined. \u00a0The other occupant was injured and taken to a local hospital.<\/i><\/p>\n One NSA Police officer was injured and taken to a local hospital.\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n The incident was contained to the vehicle control point area on the perimeter of the secure campus.<\/i><\/p>\n This information is preliminary and the FBI is leading the investigation.<\/i><\/p>\n The National Security Agency is grateful for the swift response of the NSA Police, as well as the support of the FBI, Maryland State Police, Fort Meade Fire Department, Fort Meade Emergency Medical Services, the Anne Arundel County Fire and Police departments, and other offices.<\/i><\/p>\n NSA takes seriously the security of its workforce and facilities.<\/i><\/p>\n
