EAST HAVEN, CT. — Two young children were found dead from a suspicious gas leak in New Haven Tuesday, June 2nd. The scene was near Strong and View streets.<\/p>\n
A neighbor had called 911 around 2:40 p.m. to report the incident, telling dispatchers, “My friend sent me a letter that she was going to kill herself,” NBC Connecticut reported.<\/p>\n
The child victims were identified as\u00a0Aleisha, 6, and Daaron, 8. They were found inside the home.<\/p>\n
The mother,\u00a0Leroya Moore, 36, was ill from the exposure and had cuts on her arms, she was outside when Officers arrived. She and three police officers were taken to the hospital.<\/p>\n
Police say\u00a0it appears the gas had been intentionally turned on inside the home.<\/p>\n
Today, police obtained an arrest warrant for Moore. She is charged with two counts of murder and reckless endangerment.<\/p>\n
The father of the children was notified of what happened and was “devastated,” police said.<\/p>\n
