MIAMI BEACH — Andrew Quarless, a tight end for the Green Bay Packers, was arrested by Miami Beach Police Saturday after he allegedly fired two shots into the air.

According to NFL Media, officers responded to a call after two shots were fired in the 500th block of Lenox Avenue in Miami Beach, following an argument between two males and a group of women near a parking garage.

Police said the 26-year-old athlete got into an exchange of words in the early morning hours Saturday when he approached a car filled with several women.

Quarless got out of his black Porsche and approached the women’s vehicle after they left a parking garage, according to the police report obtained by the Miami Herald newspaper. Quarless got into an argument with the women and fired two rounds into the air.

Police later found the black Porsche a few blocks away. Quarless was alleged to be attempting to hide the gun in a potted plant near a local tavern. Police matched rounds from the gun to those found near the parking garage.

There were no injuries, according to police.

Later on Saturday, the Packers released the following statement: “We are aware of the matter involving Andrew Quarless and are in the process of gathering more information. We will withhold further comment.”

Quarless is still in police custody.
