LOS ANGELES COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT: The parents of a young, teenage girl reported her missing to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff\u2019s Station Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at 9:30 pm after they discovered her missing from home.<\/p>\n
Due to the minor\u2019s age, the missing girl was considered to be a \u201cCritical Missing Person.\u201d Deputies from Santa Clarita Sheriff\u2019s Station began a search operation to locate the girl. While patrol deputies searched the community, investigators checked her phone records.<\/p>\n
Deputies called a phone number found on her phone records, and a man, later identified as suspect Dean Kaene, answered the phone. He denied knowing the whereabouts of the missing girl.<\/p>\n
Sheriff\u2019s deputies went to the home of the suspect, where they were allowed inside by the suspect\u2019s parents. Deputies soon found the victim inside the garage prior to 2 a.m. The victim told deputies she had been befriended by the suspect the previous day while at a grocery store in the Santa Clarita area and that he had sexually assaulted her.<\/p>\n
Suspect Dean Kaene is a 26 year-old Filipino male resident of Santa Clarita.<\/p>\n
Suspect Kaene (also spelled Keane) is a registered sex offender due to a conviction for indecent exposure in the City of Glendale. He is on parole for burglary.<\/p>\n
Kaene was arrested and booked at Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff\u2019s Station and is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.<\/p>\n
Sheriff\u2019s Special Victims Bureau investigators are asking any adults or children who have had contact with Suspect Kaene to contact Special Victims Bureau Investigators.<\/p>\n
