North Las Vegas, Nevada \u2013 A woman is dead following an afternoon shooting.<\/p>\n

On 7\/13\/15, at about 1:30 p.m., officers were notified of a shooting in the 2300 block of Plumeria Avenue. Arriving officers located a 70-year-old North Las Vegas female suffering from an apparent gun shot wound. The woman was transported to UMC Trauma where she was pronounced deceased.<\/p>\n

The preliminary investigation indicates the woman got into a verbal altercation with her husband, identified as Arthur Mattox (78). The argument escalated into Mattox shooting his wife with a handgun at least once. Mattox subsequently notified first responders of what took place.<\/p>\n

The couple were the only two people inside the residence at the time of the shooting.\u00a0According to reports, the man said they had been at home when an argument started, allegedly over a oxygen tank.<\/p>\n

Mattox says she later entered his room with a container of weed killer to spray him. The suspect also says his wife punched him.<\/p>\n
