DALLAS<\/strong> \u2013 U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport arrested a military deserter with an active warrant, July 28.<\/p>\n Mark Arellano, 31, was returning to the United States at the Toronto, Canada preclearance port. CBP officers in Toronto alerted DFW CBP officers of his arrival and active warrant.\u00a0 CBP officers arrested Arellano when he arrived in Dallas.<\/p>\n Arellano, a US citizen, is the subject of an outstanding federal arrest warrant issued through the United States Army Deserter Information Point. The charge listed with the United States Army, Office of the Provost Marshal General was for Military Desertion.<\/p>\n \u201cIf during the course of our official duties, we encounter a person wanted by another a law enforcement agency, we will take the necessary steps to intercept and arrest that person,\u201d said Dallas CBP Port Director Cleatus Hunt. \u201cCBP officers routinely work with other local, state and federal law enforcement agencies and this arrest is a recent example of the efforts taken in carrying out our law enforcement duties.\u201d<\/p>\n CBP officers turned Arellano over to the local authorities who will turn him over to the U.S. Army for extradition to Fort Hood, Texas.<\/p>\n
