WASHINGTON — (Scroll down for video) — UPDATE:\u00a0Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department\u2019s Criminal Investigations Division have announced the identity of the suspect arrested after the police involved shooting that occurred in the 5300 Block of Clay Terrace, Northeast on Saturday, August 8, 2015.<\/p>\n

The suspect, who remains hospitalized, has been identified as 22-year-old Renita Nettles<\/strong> of Northeast, DC. She was placed under arrest and charged with Assault on a Police Officer, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and Arson.<\/p>\n

The investigation remains ongoing.<\/p>\n

MORE: The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a police involved shooting that occurred on Saturday, August 8, 2015, at approximately 6:15 pm in the 5300 block of Clay Terrace, Northeast.<\/p>\n

Members of the Sixth District were called to assist DC Fire and Emergency Services for a call for a fire in the 5300 block of Clay Terrace, Northeast. While on scene, the units were called for a woman with a knife at the same location.<\/p>\n

Upon reaching the location they located a female suspect, who produced a knife and confronted the officers. As the suspect approached them, an officer fired one shot at the suspect, who sustained a gunshot wound.<\/p>\n

The suspect was transported to a local hospital where she is currently being treated for her injuries.<\/p>\n

The suspect\u2019s identity is being withheld at this time, pending identification.<\/p>\n

The Metropolitan Police Department\u2019s Internal Affairs Division is conducting the investigation.<\/p>\n
