On Aug. 5, Cervantes-Rodriguez was convicted of that charge and was subsequently given a five-year suspended sentence. On Aug. 13, the Sheriff\u2019s Office turned over Cervantes-Rodriguez to Abilene Border Patrol agents. Records also showed that Cervantes-Rodriguez had been previously deported from the United States.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a reflection of how federal, state and local law enforcement agencies can work together to apprehend dangerous criminals to keep our communities safe,\u201d said Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Rodolfo Karisch.<\/p>\n<p>Cervantes-Rodriguez faces a charge of illegal re-entry after deportation &#8211; 8 USC \u00a7 1326.<\/p>\n<p>The Del Rio Border Patrol Sector is part of the Joint Task Force-West South Texas Corridor, which leverages federal, state and local resources to combat transnational criminal organizations.\u00a0 During FY 2015, which started Oct. 1, 2014, Del Rio Sector agents have apprehended ten previously deported sex offenders.
