Santa Rosa Beach, Fla— (Walton County Sheriff) — There’s a reason they’re called man’s best friend. Just ask Ms. Fran Lamson of Santa Rosa Beach.

“She was my baby… my heart,” said Lamson of her nine-year-old Neapolitan Mastiff, Kessler.

Sunday August 9th Lamson made one of the most difficult calls of her life. Crying and upset, Lamson called the Walton County Sheriff’s Office when her 190lb dog passed away in her upstairs living room. Lamson had previously inquired about getting the dog cremated when it passed away, but knew the cost was too high. She never anticipated what would happen next.

Walton County Sheriff’s Office dispatched Deputy Nick Embry and Deputy Jason Day to Lamson’s home in Santa Rosa Beach.
