The summer of 2015 was Earth’s hottest on record, since record-keeping began in 1880.<\/p>\n
The globally averaged temperature over land and ocean surfaces for August 2015 was the warmest August on record, according to the NOAA, 1.58\u00b0F warmer than the 20th century average, and surpassing the previous record set in 2014 by 0.16\u00b0F.<\/p>\n
August 2015 tied with January 2007 as the third warmest monthly highest departure from average for any month.<\/p>\n
