Shocking footage that was recorded from a jail in Georgia shows a mentally ill man being tasered by police.

Matthew Ajibade, aged 21, got in to a brawl with several of his jailers during what his family claims was a bipolar episode, after he is subdued he was restrained in a chair and tased in his groind.

Ajibade can be heard screaming as the Taser hits, and less than two hours later he was discovered dead – still restrained in the chair.

Ajibade was left alone in restraints for an hour-and-a-half after the violence with no one checking on him during that time.

This graphic new video – which is a minute long and was shown in court on Friday – was obtained by NBC News.

In another video filmed prior to the possibly fatal Tasing, the black student can be seen arguing with the officers, who call in back up to restrain him.

They try to tackle him to ground, but Ajibade resists. Sergeant Anza Rowland then Tasers him, and goes to do so a second time but is grabbed.

As she falls to the floor Ajibade picks up the Taser himself, leading Deputy Greg Capers to throw punches at the student.

State medical examiner Stacey Desamours told the court earlier this week that several factors could have contributed to Ajibade’s death, including the struggle with jailers and being struck by a stun gun.

Chatham County coroner Dr Bill Wessinger said Ajibade suffered several blunt injuries to his head and upper body and had blood inside his skull.
