Austria has announced that they will pay migrants $500 each to go back to their homeland.

This is an attempt to encourage 50,000 migrants to leave Austria by 2019.

The plans were announced by the country’s foreign ministry, defence ministry and interior ministry.

The interior minister, Johanna Mikl-Leitner, has said that Austria has one of the highest deportation levels within Europe.

In 2015, Austria deported a total of 8,365 migrants but will increase the number to 12,500 in 2015.
