Belton, KY \u00a0\u2013 The Kentucky State Police is currently searching for an armed and dangerous suspect in the Belton area of Muhlenberg County.<\/p>\n
On Sunday, around 9:55 p.m., troopers were conducting a traffic safety checkpoint at the intersection of US 431 and KY 70 when a vehicle attempted to avoid the checkpoint. Trooper Jacob Fortney activated his emergency equipment and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The suspect vehicle accelerated and attempted to flee by pulling into a yard behind a residence on Chumley Lane in the Beech Creek area. Just prior to the suspect vehicle coming to a stop, the operator fired a handgun from the driver’s side window.<\/p>\n
The suspect vehicle came to a stop and the operator exited, firing multiple times. The operator then fled the scene on foot into a wooded area.<\/p>\n
The suspect\u00a0has been identified as Cody N. McIntosh, 22, Dunmor, KY.<\/p>\n
