Rescue services have confirmed that eleven people have died after a helicopter crashed near the city of Bergen.<\/p>\n
Rescue workers are continuing their search in the hope of finding possible survivors.<\/p>\n
A Norwegian police spokesperson confirmed that the helicopter had been located and that emergency services are ‘doing everything possible to rescue the occupants.’<\/p>\n
The helicopter was carrying 13 people from an offshore oil field site in the North Sea.<\/p>\n
He went on to say that helicopter is ‘totally smashed.’<\/p>\n
“We have not found any survivors. We are still looking.”<\/p>\n
“We are searching a large ocean area.”<\/p>\n

An eyewitness reported to local media that the ‘helicopters rotor blades came rushing towards us, then we heard a violent explosion.’<\/p>\n
Statoil, the energy company that owns the Gullfaks\u00a0B platform that the helicopter was travelling back from, says it has temporarily grounded all helicopters of the type that crashed.<\/p>\n
