Early Tuesday\u00a0morning there was an explosion in the Kingsbridge area of the Bronx.<\/p>\n

Battalion Chief Michael J. Fahy, a 17-year veteran of the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) and a devoted father of three, was killed.–more than a dozen others were injured.<\/p>\n

WABC reported: “At 6:22 a.m., firefighters responded to a gas leak in the house. At some point, an illegal drug lab was detected and police were called.<\/em><\/p>\n

Police say the house exploded afterward but it wasn’t immediately clear what caused the blast that killed Fahy.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Chief Fahy served as a Firefighter beginning in 1999, was promoted to Lieutenant in 2004, to Captain in 2007 and to Battalion Chief in 2012.<\/p>\n
