A 31-year-old man was charged today with trying to stab two Los Angeles County sheriff\u2019s deputies at a Metro train station in Santa Monica, the Los Angeles County District Attorney\u2019s Office announced.<\/p>\n
Deputy District Attorney Matthew Vodnoy said Thomas Francis Napack of Los Angeles faces two counts each of attempted murder of a peace officer with a knife use allegation and assault upon a peace officer.<\/p>\n
Arraignment was scheduled today but was continued to tomorrow.<\/p>\n
Napack is accused of charging at two deputies monitoring the transit station with a knife in each hand on Oct. 4, the prosecutor said. The defendant was shot by one of the deputies as they evaded the alleged stabbing attack, the prosecutor added.<\/p>\n
Bail is expected at more than $2 million. If convicted as charged, Napack faces a possible maximum sentence of life in state prison.<\/p>\n
