{"id":93013,"date":"2016-12-06T11:26:07","date_gmt":"2016-12-06T16:26:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/breaking911.com\/?p=93013"},"modified":"2016-12-06T11:26:07","modified_gmt":"2016-12-06T16:26:07","slug":"obama-family-travel-vacations-cross-85-million-mark","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/breaking911.com\/obama-family-travel-vacations-cross-85-million-mark\/","title":{"rendered":"Obama family travel, vacations, cross $85 million mark"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">President Obama and his family have spent over $85 million globetrotting since they moved into the White House.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\"><span id=\"ext-gen135\"><a class=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.judicialwatch.org\/press-room\/press-releases\/obama-familys-2015-hawaii-vacation-cost-taxpayers-4823206-88\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Judicial Watch<\/a> had previously calculated that their flights to and from Washington had a price tag of $3,590,313.60.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>Judicial Watch announced today that it obtained records from the U.S. Secret Service revealing that its travel expenses for the First Family\u2019s 2015 Hawaiian vacation cost taxpayers $1.2 million, which bring the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.judicialwatch.org\/press-room\/press-releases\/judicial-watch-obama-family-2015-honolulu-christmas-vacation-cost-taxpayers-3590313-in-flight-expenses-alone\/\">total cost<\/a> of the vacation trip to at least $4.8 million. This was the Obamas\u2019 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.judicialwatch.org\/press-room\/press-releases\/judicial-watch-obama-familys-2014-christmas-vacation-in-hawaii-cost-taxpayers-3672798-in-transportation-expenses\/\">eighth<\/a>Hawaiian family vacation. The trip has become an annual event for the Obamas. To date, Obama\u2019s and his family\u2019s travel expenses total at least $85,029,819.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The records obtained by Judicial Watch for Obama\u2019s Secret Service travel to Hawaii reveal the following expenses totaling $1,234,316.67:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Hotel and lodging costs totaled $1,000,458.63<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>The Secret Service spent $165,893.88 on car rentals.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Air and rail expenses totaled $67,964.16.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Although the vacation officially lasted from December 18, 2015, to January 3, 2016, the Secret Service rented several Kailua homes for 19 nights, starting from December 16.\u00a0 The total for the rentals, located near the Marine Corps base at Kaneohe Bay was $245,993.12. \u00a0According to bills obtained by Judicial Watch through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), the Secret Service also paid for rooms at the Hawaii Prince Hotel Waikiki and Golf Club.\u00a0 The Secret Service also reserved rooms at the Moana Surfrider resort on Waikiki Beach, and the Ala Moana Hotel, which cost a total of $40,249.48 and $671,895.99, respectively.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The Secret Service rented cars from Avis, Alamo, and Hertz \u2013 103 cars for the two-week vacation, totaling $165,893.88 in taxpayer money.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Reportedly, the Obamas stayed at the <a class=\"extl\" href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/entry\/obama-hawaii-vacation-rentals_us_56709ac0e4b0dfd4bcbfd707\">Hale Reena Estate<\/a>, which \u201crents for anywhere between $5,000 to $10,000 a night, depending on the season.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>According to <a class=\"extl\" href=\"http:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Politics\/aloha-obama-inside-presidents-2015-hawaiian-holiday\/story?id=35830074\">other<\/a> news sources, the Obamas dined out frequently (and were guarded) at Hawaii\u2019s finest restaurants:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>On Sunday, December 20, the Obamas had dinner at <a class=\"extl\" href=\"http:\/\/www.morimotowaikiki.com\/\">Morimoto<\/a>, a celebrity chef-owned Asian-fusion restaurant,<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>On Christmas Eve, they dined at <a class=\"extl\" href=\"http:\/\/mwrestaurant.com\/\">MW Restaurant<\/a> in Honolulu,<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>On December 27, the first family took their dinner at <a class=\"extl\" href=\"http:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Politics\/aloha-obama-inside-presidents-2015-hawaiian-holiday\/story?id=35830074\">\u201cone of Hawaii\u2019s finest restaurants,\u201d<\/a> <a class=\"extl\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kahalaresort.com\/Dining\/Hokus\">Hoku\u2019s<\/a> at the Kahala Hotel and Resort,<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>The next day, the Obamas dined at <a class=\"extl\" href=\"http:\/\/www.alanwongs.com\/\">Alan Wong\u2019s<\/a> with friends,<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>And on New Year\u2019s Day, the Obamas <a class=\"extl\" href=\"http:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Politics\/aloha-obama-inside-presidents-2015-hawaiian-holiday\/story?id=35830074\">dined<\/a> at <a class=\"extl\" href=\"http:\/\/www.halekulani.com\/dining\/orchids-restaurant\">Halekulani<\/a>, billed as one of the \u201ctop restaurants on Oahu.\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Featured Image: AFP<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>President Obama and his family have spent over $85 million globetrotting since they moved into the White House.
