XFL Trainer Ben Siegfried Dies At Team Hotel At Age 22

On Thursday evening in Arlington, Texas, XFL trainer Ben Siegfried passed away at the age of 22.

Siegfried died at the team’s hotel, FOX 2 reported.

Siegfried worked as a trainer for the XFL’s St. Louis Battlehawks as well as the Washington Defenders.

“The XFL family mourns the loss of our teammate, Ben Siegfried, who passed away,” the Battlehawks said in a statement. “Ben, a graduate student athletic trainer from Lebanon Valley College working with the XFL Athletic Training Department, was an integral part of preparing our Battlehawks and Defenders for the season. His infectious smile in the locker room and passion for his work will be deeply missed by all the players and staff who had the opportunity to work with him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.”

On Friday, the XFL and both teams announced his death on Twitter, however, the cause of his passing was not disclosed.

Siegfried was enrolled as a graduate student in athletic training at Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Pennsylvania and was conducting clinical training with the XFL.
