Anchorage Woman, 25, Arrested In Homicide Investigation

Anchorage, AK. — On Tuesday, around 12:30 a.m., dispatch received a report of a suicide in the 1200 block of LaTouche Street. Officers with the Patrol Division found an adult male inside an apartment shot in the upper body. He was transported to a local hospital and died.

The investigation found that a group of adults and juveniles were inside the apartment. The victim pulled out a handgun he had brought to the residence. Multiple people began to pass the gun around and were handling it. At some point, the gun was being handled by an adult female and a shot was fired. The bullet struck the victim.

Detectives interviewed witnesses and the adult female. She was arrested and transported to jail.

The suspect has been identified as Marilyn Tilo-Maiava, 25. She faces charges of Manslaughter and Criminal Negligent Homicide.

The victim’s identification is not being released at this time pending next of kin procedures.

Alcohol and drugs are believed to a factor
